Simple FC from Spalding lifted this year’s Liquid Football Trophy 2017, after beating Libby’s Boys in the final.
The Simple FC boys, who finished top of Group B, knocked out last year’s champions Disaronno Ronaldo in the semi-finals.
Along with the honour of lifting the prestigious trophy, Simple also cleared up on the individual honours; Curtis Lane shared the golden boot, along with FC Liquid Football’s Josh Hales, after bagging 12 goals, Dom Mason scored goal-of-the-tournament, whilst Daniel Mason was chosen as player-of-the-tournament. Aside from a few snags during the day (which we won’t go into at this moment in time), the tournament as a whole was fantastic, with a high-standard of football on show.
Huge thanks to the LFT 2017 sponsors; Awayday Gold, Vision Security, DRT Fireplaces, Pandora’s Box, Harrison Rose Estate Agents, ST Ives Town Scholarship Programme, Goose’s Garden, Premier Late Store and Jay Farmer Kitchens & Bathrooms – we couldn’t have hosted the event without your help! Thanks to all of the players, especially to those who donated to the Free Kicks Foundation, for taking part in a great day of football. Thanks to the referees, especially to Michael who kindly donated his fee to the charity. Thanks to Kisby & Carter at Hereward Radio. And thanks to everyone else who has helped in some way or other on the day, or leading up to today… hats off to you all!
I’m sure we will go again next year. If anyone has any suggestions for next year’s charity, please get in touch, and don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for photos/videos coming in the next few days.
